What is TED?

TED is a non-profit organization (www.ted.com) based on the slogan: Ideas Worth Spreading. The world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers give free, short talks (under 18 minutes) based on topics such as technology, design, entertainment, philosophy, business, education, art, medicine and much more. The talks are filmed and free for the world to watch online.

How can TED talks improve my English?

Listening to great speakers online, reading the transcripts, speaking and exchanging ideas with me (or in a group) is an interesting, effective and often inspiring way to improve your English.

How does it work?

Choose a talk for the next class and I will send a corresponding vocabulary list. Prepare at home by watching a TED talk online. In the lesson, you should be ready to discuss, defend, reinforce or even change your opinion! The last 10 to 15 minutes will be used to list new or difficult or words and work on mistakes and/or grammar corrections. Perfection is overrated; communicating your opinion well is the goal!
